If you are considering studying abroad, it is critical to ensure that you are prepared so that you can enjoy both studying and living in a foreign country when you arrive. This can be a little intimidating for the majority of Indian students studying abroad. There are a few things you need to know in order to make your student experience a good one.

Consider the following before travelling abroad:

    Research

    1. Before moving to a new country, you need to do an internet search for information and resources.
    2. If you know someone who has studied at the institution to which you are applying, this is the best way to gather a wealth of information.
    3. You can obtain information about your stay and study schedule by contacting university personnel.
    4. It is always better to know about the country's weather, because this will help you pack your suitcases.
    5. You should be knowledgeable about currency exchange rates and carry enough cash with you to cover your expenses until you can locate an ATM or open a bank account. You can carry international debit cards with you that are usable anywhere in the world and are easily available at any nationalised bank in India.

    Safe Packing

    1. Make certain that you have all the necessary documents and visas to study in the country of your choice.
    2. There are sufficient prescription medications to last the duration of your hospital stay.
    3. Due to the fact that the shape of the electrical plug varies between continents, this is a must-have item to bring along.
    Chargers for laptops and smartphones
    5. Winter in some countries is completely different than it is in India, so pack plenty of warm and waterproof clothing for the winter. Additionally, bring sweaters/hoodies, jeans, warm sleepwear and shoes, a coat/jacket, and an outfit for a special occasion.
    6. A travel guide to the country to which you are travelling.

    After Arrival

    1. Within 24 to 48 hours, you are required to register with the internal affairs ministry. Registration enables you to legalise your stay in that country and, in the future, may facilitate your application for temporary residency. However, each country has its own set of rules, which you must thoroughly understand.
    2. The next critical step is to register with the Indian embassy in your country. It is extremely valuable because you will meet people with whom you can communicate in the Indian language.

    Bank Account

It is strongly advised that you open a bank account in the country in which you are studying. This will enable you to pay your bills and safeguard your money. You will need a passport, proof of residence, and proof of student status for this.

    Part-Time Job

A part-time job is an excellent way to gain an understanding of a country's work culture and to hone your interpersonal skills. Most importantly, it looks fantastic on your curriculum vitae.
